When It’s Time to LEAN IN

Sheryl Sandberg’s LEAN IN has been getting lots of buzz around town. Last week I felt like I could not turn on the television without seeing her talking about it! Her message about women leaning in, raising their hands and staying in the conversation has had me thinking --- and looking at the behavior of women in the workplace --- a lot these past few weeks. It also has me thinking about the times I leaned in…and the times I leaned back. Leaning in often feels risky, but leaning back…well for me at least, that feels wrong.

But I wonder how twentysomethings feel about it. Are these things you think about? From what I see MANY twentysomethings are on the prowl for jobs for 1-2 years after college. Once they get one…is this the first thought that comes to mind? Is it about getting ahead? Or staying employed? And really when does the marriage/baby spark kickin?

I am endlessly curious about this. So let me know what you think about the book people have been buzzing about. I’ve heard a lot from older women, but little from those who really can make the working world change --- those just starting out now!
